What the women are saying about our expressive art session with Christina.
"When I saw the prints (and I still can’t stop looking at them) I was entranced. I find that they tell me something new about myself each time I look at them. Ballet dancers, peacocks, pop culture references, pieces of my relationships...all captured in my yoni, my Natasha, guardian of my soul. The rebirth of a Phoenix burning bright with flame.
I shared my experience with several people I love, and the telling of the tale was something intimate, sweet and exciting. I was surprised at the reaction of my husband. In hearing about the experience, it allowed him to hear Natasha’s voice as well. On occasion he will talk to her now, placing his hand over her and honoring her with his love and warmth. As for me, I feel like I have woken a slumbering entity. One that is maiden, mother and crone. It sometimes feels like an impossible wisdom. I will be eternally grateful for the gift." Bonnie
Genital Sense of Self refers to an individual's understanding and perception of their genitalia as a core component of their overall identity and self-concept. It encompasses the physical, emotional, and psychological aspects of how one views, experiences, and relates to their own genitalia. This sense of self is deeply influenced by personal experiences, cultural attitudes, societal norms, and individual beliefs about sexuality and body image. A healthy genital sense of self contributes to positive body image, self-esteem, and sexual well-being, fostering a more integrated and accepting view of one's own body. It plays a crucial role in intimate relationships, sexual health, and overall mental health, underscoring the importance of education, open dialogue, and holistic approaches to sexual healing and empowerment.
What is 'Genital Sense of Self'?
When we talk about a woman’s genital sense of self, it goes well beyond the external anatomy. It encompasses how she relates to her sexuality and her entire reproductive system—her uterus, cervix, ovaries, and all the complex hormonal and emotional processes intertwined with those organs. Feeling at home in one’s body and sexuality sets the groundwork for being more open and comfortable discussing issues related to her body. A positive genital sense of self fosters body literacy, which helps women better recognize shifts in their cycles, changes that come with menopause, and the physical or emotional effects of life transitions. When we host community events such as The M Factor: Shredding the Silence on Menopause or a Divorce Dinner Party fundraiser, we’re addressing different points along a spectrum of female experiences, yet they’re all underpinned by a woman’s relationship to her body. Moreover, cultivating a strong sense of genital self reinforces bodily autonomy and self-worth. Essentially, when a woman understands, respects, and trusts her reproductive system as an integral part of her identity, she’s more likely to seek and receive the support she needs, whether that’s for her health, her legal rights, or her emotional well-being.
Our Mission
Our mission is to empower women to cultivate a positive genital sense of self through sexual healing art, education and empowering practices. We believe that embracing and understanding our genital sense of self is essential to overall well-being and sexual empowerment. By offering an accessible and inclusive artistic modality and educational programs, we aim to guide women on a transformative journey towards healing, self-discovery, self-acceptance and overall confidence. Through our holistic approach, we create a safe, inclusive and supportive space where women can explore and celebrate their body, deepen their connection with themselves, and foster a healthy and positive relationship with their genital sense of self. Our goal is to break down barriers, challenge societal norms, and inspire women to embrace their sexual identities with confidence, authenticity, and joy.
Our Vision
Our vision is to contribute to a world where individuals embrace their genital sense of self and celebrate their bodies as a whole through the transformative power of sexual healing arts. We envision a future where every person feels empowered, educated, and liberated to express their unique beauty and sexuality without shame or stigma. By fostering a culture of acceptance, self-love, and holistic wellness, we aim to inspire profound personal growth and a deeper connection to oneself. Our ultimate goal is to make a profound impact where artistic expression and education cultivate a more inclusive, compassionate, and empowered society.
